Spoiler alert : About Mitty's story

When I'm going to blog about a movie, it must either be one of my crossed out checklist or a movie that has left good impression on me.

Trust me, I'm gonna blog about the latter one.

We (the babi buddies) didn't plan to watch this at first. I was expecting to watch the Hobbit or the Frozen instead of any new movies with no review like this heh.
HOWEVER, we did make a good choice, although some said Captain Phillip (another just-released NEW movie) is better, I think this is not a bad choice, at all.

Before the movie started, we were greeted by lotsof (I MEAN REALLY LOTS OF) advertisements -_- I was almost annoyed. But phew, the starting of the movie cheered me up a bit because it has a creative beginning. Creative, as in.. the placement of words-introduction of the casts of the movie.
It feels different, and I'm just gonna say it again, CREATIVE! (Y)

Then it was continued by some humour by the main character, Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) himself, who appears to be a daydreamer (oh my, that is so like me), who fantasizes things pretty melodramatic (way more dramatic than me) to the point that it is so unreal sometimes.

Hahaha, oh well dreams are meant to be dream - so out of reality yet exaggerative isn't it?
The effects - I must say is extremely dramatic - yet again thumbs up!

Still didn't know what the whole movie was about, I continued watching, anticipating of what's coming next.
Walter works for LIFE magazine at the 'Negative Assets' department.
Okay, LIFE magazine means this whole movie has got something to do with journalism, and it's one of the many magazines (somehow related to photography) that I know of.
'Negative Assets' - something to do with photographs. And immediately I whispered to myself,
'Oh dear, this cannot be true'.

Really want to know what's gonna happen next and what kind of movie will this movie going to be.

Walter's imagination on the moving picture has spurred and dared himself to go for...

ADVENTURE.

The story continued with humour and more humour. The adventure began at Greenland, with only 8 human beings living in that country, lol. And when he almost gave up, his crush sort of motivated him in 'some way' and that led him to..

"Life is about COURAGE and going into the UNKNOWN."

For some reasons (cannot reveal too much :P ) his adventure continued at Iceland.
He has nothing really, only a knapsack, a handphone, and a skateboard and there he goes with

MORE adventure. :)

So fun right?? :D

To MY amazement, there was one scene in the movie where the photojournalist (in the movie) was standing (steadily) on a moving (some kind of )plane while taking the photograph of the volcano! :O Oh god, speaking of courage! I absolutely salute that. (I wonder if Nat Geo photographers did the same too. If it's a yes, that must be  really insane! :O)

After Iceland, he then travelled to Afghanistan and Himalaya to achieve his important mission.

All the views (in the movie) showing how the countries look like during hot and cold are amazing <3

"Beautiful things don't ask for attention.", said Sean O' Connell (the photojournalist)

So when Walter didn't complete his mission, he joined the locals

and enjoyed himself. :)

Well, the mission wasn't exactly incomplete though. Hehe, a series of lovely incidents happened and that finally led to a meaningful ending. :)

"You are Sean's partner, Walter. You complete his job."

....
(To those who haven't watched this movie, I'm sure you're surrounded with question marks after reading this. I just don't wanna be the 'complete' spoiler XD hahaha. You have to watch yourself to see whether you agree with my feedbacks, below :) )

Here are my feedbacks :
  1. Y'know I've been hoping so much of a movie with photography as one/part of the main genre, and then this movie APPEARS. (dream comes true :'> )
  2. As I  said, the movie started of with creativity, and that really gave a good impression to me. (I crazy love creativity just incase you don't know :P)
  3. Thankfully it's funny, this doesn't make this movie boring at all. And another plus plus point was the adrenaline rush when Walter jumped onto the helicopter (I'm like sheez, this is where the real adventure begins!)
  4. I like the whole concept of the movie. (Because it involves the genre(s) -travel, adventure, photography that I LOVE, that's why hahaha)
  5. (refer no. 4) Nahh, the concept is basically about stop day-dreaming and start living/realising kind of theme. And the genres match the theme pretty well and  it just so happened that all of 'em are my fav. genres heh :P
  6. Speaking of travel, this movie has totally inspired not only just me but everyone to travel. RIGHT, RIGHT? (To those who have watched, nod nod)
  7. There was a little bit of confusion between the 'daydream' part and the 'reality' part in the movie, but I'm glad that they blended really well, and it wasn't too complicated. Fun in a way when I always question the person sitting next to me, "Is he dreaming, or is this reality?" Hahaha
  8. Oh! The soundtrack is pretty good too.
  9. And I like how the movie started with creativity and ended up meaningfully.
  10. In a nutshell, it's just my kind of movie lah (insert heavy Malaysian slang here) :P

Of course, there are minor flaws in this movie, which I shalln't mention. To me, they are too minor to be noticed. This isn't the best movie of the year to me, (like how those Tumblr user talk/exaggerate about it), it's a nice movie to watch, if you go with zero expectation.
Note : ZERO expectation yeah.

If you don't expect anything the moment you enter the cinema, you'll enjoy the movie I can assure you, just like me. :)

I don't mind rewatching again if I were given another chance. Hehehe :>
...

And that's

The end.

You Are Not Alone ;

Hi, everyone. A pending blogpost has finally arrived!
Am proudly telling you one of my latest updates during the holidays so please read joyfully, not with a grumpy, groggy face yeah? :P
Here's someone whom I would like to introduce.
Put your hands together and say hello to one of my best friends nameeeedd..
...

....

........................

Aha.
Since both of us are having some you may call short breaks from the torturous exams, we planned to meet up, as in just a short meet up to discuss about life and exchange stories of people.
Note : People could be meant anyone, even strangers.

It was just a simple outing, nothing fabulous.
Here are some photos to please your eyes.

Level one, Pavillion, Kuala Lumpur.

Nom nom nom. :3

Was she being shy?

I guess not. Avoiding my camera was what she did. xD

Foodwise was alright. The cosy restaurant with beautiful love songs as the background made us feel really comfortable, chillaxing for hours. :)
We were then heading to elsewhere for some walk after hours of sitting just to burn off the calories.

As the long needle of the clock pointed four and the short needle pointed one, we immediately rushed to the GSC Cinema located on Level 6, the same building I mentioned above.

It was

THIS MOVIE that we watched.
Rating 4.5/5.0

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"

Suprised to see such high rating from me? Don't be. Maybe it's because I have not watched movie with such genres (action, thriller, adventure) for some time. So if I were to compare THIS with The Avengers, THIS movie definitely deserves some attention and a nod. Sorry, superheroes.

Speaking of The Avengers, I'll blog about that soon - all in one Movies-review-post! Wait for it.

To sum THIS movie, it's all about the evil queen conquered the kingdom, who wished to kill Snow White just to extract the beauty within her by giving her a poison apple to eat in which the prince finally cured the curse by planting a simple kiss and things like that? You-and-me know the storyline but every movie modified the original plot, hence THIS movie is not excluded.

Perhaps you will not like the modification but I did not merely give a high rank based on that.
It was rather the characters in it that made me thrilled, afraid yet excited at the same time. Here's a point to take note at, I am not refering to the good-looking actors.

In all honesty, Charlize Theron is undeniably a good actress. Her role as the wicked-stepmother-or-the-evil-Queen-Ravenna caught my admiration. She played it so well that I really got scared by her devillish smile as well as the killing stares. After did some research online, she is just thirty-six, for god's sake!

Not only that , I love the suspense, the fashion (refer to Queen Ravenna's) and the sound effects. Though it was ended with joy and victory, like what we expected, but overall it's a pretty good movie well to me, at least. :P

Then, we did the brisk walking the mall and snapped a photo with the Mickey Mouse-Disney sort-of-like-exhibition / sales entrance located at the Centre Court before we officially go back home.

The shirts are pretty you know, but the price tag hung on them thoughtfully telling me to put it back nicely and leave.
How sad!
..

Upon waiting for the arrival of the train, my friend was asked by me to act naturally, as though as I am invisible.
Here are some emotional photos that I snapped ;

Looking at the railway road so intensely. I wonder what was she thinking at that time.

You look tired, deary. You look very very tired. Did life treat you that badly?

Mental note : All these photos were edited with effects.

Anyhoo, this friend of mine has been one of the nice people I've met on Earth. Six years of friendship between me and here is inseparable. :)

Hi Wan Ying, if you're reading this.
I've stalked your latest blog from the first blogpost until the newest. What I read was totally different from the you that I've known back in high school. The Wan Ying who was full of confidence and faith in herself, where has she gone to?

Of every post I read, I never miss a single word, I swear! I re-read the written articles of yours again and again for countless times. I can see that you're out of the mood quite often too. :(
What happened, what happened?
I know, I understand that STPM ain't easy, it is tougher than anybody could have thought!
Yet, you must stay strong, remain the determination in your head and tell this to yourself :
I CAN DO THIS.

Yes, honey. Tell THAT to yourself, to your reflection every single day.

I don't want you to lose yourself. I know you can do it.

You are saying that you're lazy? Come on, I'm a victim too. But do not allow procrastination or the so called "laziness" to take over your life. You must constantly remind yourself about your aim as well as goals in life.
In the world of education, nothing is ever easy as we grow older.
You might think that I don't understand how you actually feel but I do, I really really do.

The feeling of working so hard yet you get all dissapointment and failure at the end is nothing but SUCK.
I knew all that.
No matter what, you must not give up to focus on what you're doing. Take the mistakes as the lesson to improve yourself. You're a smart person, do not prove me wrong on that, girl.

And,
do not take the friendship case for granted. Screw whoever that makes you upset. You're surrounded with people, a circle of friends (perhaps some are only the true ones) and you cannot blame yourself for the cause of disconnection from your friends or whatsoever. Like I've said,

"Friendship isn't about who came first and who you have known the longest, it's about who came and never left." :)
Cheer up, deary. You are not alone.

Right here right now, I want you to collect back all your lost confidence. Feel yourself, believe yourself!
I want the Lee Wan Ying that I knew -back in pieces. Do not let the depression to remove the certainty within you. Do not stress yourself to the point that you can't keep calm and breathe relaxingly.
Do not give space to fear. Have courages and fight with it!

Do not cry, for I'll be there, listening to you. Remember what I've said about phonecalling when you're depressed or tensed up? I don't mind being your listener like serious seriously.
My phone number is always there, and it's up to you to dial/text. :)

This was supposed to be a private message but I don't think you'll remember if you first-read all these. I know you'll be reading my diary and all, just to catch up my updates about my life.
Hence, I'm typing all this to let you read, to remind you by my blogpost link incase you forget one day, and to let you know that you're far more better than I would have expected. :)
You're a really nice person.

Last but not least,
do your very best in everything you do and enjoy life, best friend. :)

Smile like this everyday, it improves mood and you'll feel happier. :)

Love you lots,

xx

31 December 2011

Bukit Bintang FTW ;

(Movie, Lunch, Outing)

Hellow yellow, readers! THIS is the pending blogpost that I had promised to post. Truly apologised for the awful late-delay!

So here goes, once upon a time. .. .. .. .. on the 4th of November 2011, *now playing : recalling back song*
which fell on Friday, I had a major exam. The day where Physics was the last subject that I sat for as far as I could remember, the morning was plain horrible.

Being all moody and all, we actually planned a birthday hangout for Yuqing (as promised) at Bukit Bintang area. In Wei Jan's mum's comfy car, we discussed the answers and doubtful questions that we faced all the way to Setiawangsa station.
We headed to KLCC's Chilli's for lunch. Suprisingly, we saw no one at the restaurant which showed that we were the early birds to reach there for lunch. Yuqing thought we booked the whole restaurant specially for her. Haha :D

All the above was my first time. My first time spending such a relaxing time with the girls, my first time to enter Chilli's.

After having the satisfying lunch, we walked around the KLCC, at the same time sending our dear friend, Siew Hui to the LRT station :)
We stopped by Kinokuniya bookstore, to just look around. I did not plan to buy any, but bought Galaxie Magazine at last, as a reward for myself, for finishing the exam stressfully without much hardwork. *pat self.

Later on, we rushed to Pavillion to purchase movie tickets to watch.. .. ...

You got it.
The front part of the movie was *yawns* boring. I almost gave this a 3 silver stars upon 5.. not until I watched the climax of the movie. It was exciting, heart-pounding, cute and touching :')

I love this kid the most! He stars as Max in the movie, real name : Dagota Goyo :> :>
His sparkling eyes are the best weapon to make women shed their tears, I tell you!

So when the movie lasted, I rated it 4.2 / 5.0
Not that bad right? :P

As time passed by, it was time to fill our tummy again! This time, we went to Yuqing's favourite "Cafe Takahashi" at the Tokyo Street, floor number 6 of the Pavillion, KL to have our dinner :)
Tokyo Street was almost like heaven! The camera shop itself already made me drooled like a fool.

No joke.

We had a really great time, talking and stalking people using my netbook :P
Camwhoring was definitely a must thing for Yuqing, as you can see her blogpost HERE .
A more descriptive a-day-out outing was nicely explained there. Go read it.

I enjoyed myself a lot with them around. There is this undescribable comfortable feeling to spread out anything when I'm with these two girls. I guess, they listen, they give advices, and best of all, they are always there for me whenever I need them. ;)

They are my study partners, my crazy partners and of course really great friends to be with! :)
I'm very grateful to meet friends like them at college! Destiny had tied us together and this friendship will go to no end!

Last but not least, I hope my dear friend, Yuqing,

enjoyed the lunch and dinner, as well as the crazy priceless laughter we had that no one could ever imagined on that day.

Happy belated 18th birthday, sweety!
;)

24 July 2011

It all ends here ;

With a good mood, I went to midvalley with..

my best friends, as you can see in the photo,
yesterday
to watch..

You-know-what :)

Coincidentally, we met Yan Ni, Sarah and her siblings and a few of my high school juniors whom they barely can't recognize me, or they don't know me, but I somehow can detect them as Convent girls.

*grins

All in all, this movie was perfect. Like anybody else's comments, this movie creates an EPIC ending for all the 7 Harry Potter series. Honestly speaking, I was not a Potter fan, but I am now. :)

Outdated fact about me :
I have NOT read the books yet.

Shame, huh.

Whatever it is, I'm making an effort to read all the 7 books by end of this year, I hope.

Anyhow, I haven't tell you my rating for this movie, have I?

Rate : 9.5/10.0

A big thanks to J.K. Rowling
who had written such a great series
which made all our childhood so wonderful :)

Incase you were not a Potter fan like me, watch all the movies from the starting until the end.
Better yet, read all the books.
You'll be extra-amazed

:)

 I love spells/magic now.

Give me a wand please?
(Expectro Patronum)
:D
