MERRRRRRR-

deka!
Merdeka!
Merdeka!

Happy 56th Independence Day, my dear country :)

Honestly speaking, the patriotism isn't getting any better this year, as I don't see any shoplots hanging any flags (maybe there is, but HARDLY). The drivers weren't as enthusiastic to decorate their cars like how they used to be. Plus, the water crisis that is happening totally ruined the Merdeka mood for part of the citizens at Selangor area. Rants are everywhere.
...

Still remember clearly that back in high school, teachers used to organise competitions, in various categories such as poetry, essay writing, acting, drawing, singing, and class decorating. The egoism that lied in each of us made the whole atmosphere super competitive to the point 'riot' almost happened between classes just to win the title. What we'd got in the end? Just the fame and title for the winners, a small consolation prize for the losers. But what did we learn in the end? It's not about the awards, but it's the sense of patriotism and love towards our country that our teachers are trying to build on us. For that, I am really thankful to have had those experiences in my high school life.

Still can't forget that every student was required to make their own merdeka hat/cap using manila cards, glue, crayons and stapler. Hundreds, probably thousand of small flags tied by strings are used to beautify the school, to make the entire school compound filled with colours of red, yellow, blue and white. I was so proud of my school because it was really beautiful and very patriotic. However as years pass by, the spirit dies. How sad.

Celebrations at school, with friends and teachers are always wonderful. The patriotism when each of the patriotic song was sung, the enthusiasm in waving our national flags, the appreciation of culture through each traditional dance, the swaying moment upon enjoying every rhythm of the song.. all these are priceless. It's a tradition practised from a year to another, I wonder if it is still maintained until today. Life was so so simple back then. :)

Where else at home, every year, on the Merdeka's eve, I'll make sure myself to always switch on the television at least an hour before to count down together to 12 o'clock sharp to shout merdeka merdeka merdeka while have a good time looking at the fireworks display through the square box with my family.
Well, the yearly habit dies too.

Yesterday (Merdeka's eve), I did not do what I always do on the day before the Independence day. Instead, I watched a show called 'Quickiependence' by the 8tv Quickie Show and then rested my butt in front of the computer until I sleep. Surprisingly NOT, hardly any sound of fireworks can be heard here because as I said, the spirit dies... slowly. And today (Merdeka Day), I had my usual jog (my first time actually to jog during the Independence Day haha) and came back to have my breakfast while watched the parade that was going on at Stadium Merdeka this morning. The celebration was just so-so, not as great as the one 6 years ago which also carried out at the same place I guess? Neh, I couldn't remember.

Oh well, this year's Merdeka day has been a rather blissful one. Rained twice, everything was happening like normal, no holidays or whatever, it was peaceful :)

I actually never knew that my Papa is that enthusiastic this year, hahaha *laughs alone*

Despite of everything above said, Happy Merdeka once again, my country :) We've been freed for 56 years, all I hope is just a better nation, developing and continue improving country- free from crimes, corruptions and racism.
Enough of putting shame in whatever ways, let's us all unite to make the country a better name in the eyes of the world.
I quote Michelle Phan, "Focus inwards, not outwards."

...

Anyway, I'm actually three minutes away from September hee,
Here is my September's resolution list!
  • Sleep early
  • Create a good habit
  • Read.read.read. my heart out
  • Find ways to overcome sleepy mode (very useful for future study plans)
  • Outings outings outings!
  • Enjoy the last 29 days to the maximum!

Aye, aye, aye, bonjour September!

the day.

Photobucket
today is... SATURDAY!
HI you!
today went to school to celebrate KOKO-PATRIOTIC-DAY.
well, not as i expected, very few came today. i mean, half of the actual amount of student came,
oh,well. pavillion got more space to sit, heh ;D
there were lotsa perfomance, dancing [ a usual one] , playing musical intruments [ violin by kalai and a very unique indian tradisional musical instrument by a form 1 girl ] , modelling [lame but the perempuan-perempuan melayu were sweet ] ,  choir [ahh] , patriotic singing by 2 intan and 1 berlian and a history talk by an old man who is 82 years old.
so where to start?
hmm. okay. dancing. as usual, sharmilla lead the multiracial group and she actually taught them dance the days before today ! omg, she is super super HEBAT!  there's hip-hop and traditional [indian, chinese and malay]. i seriously recommend sharmilla to join "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE" , if she join, i definitely will vote for her :D she's talented and can be a goood performer Smile
here is a  picture and a video [catwalk] .

Photobucket

very nice :)
then there's patriotic singing by 2 intan and 2 ruby. both were good :) but one berlian was definitely a blast! her conductor was the main attraction. the way she conduct was quite weird and funny, but she was really good and brought the cheers from the crowd :) very semangat. so they deserved to win lol. *smiles*

2 intan, good job :)

the celebration continued by the talks by a very old man, Tuk Itam. he's a man who gone through ups and downs under the British, Japan and he even suffered during the darurat period. He's 82 years old this year, and he's a bilal [who laungkan azan] for 41 years. A tough man who is still alive, was here to tell us his story =)

Photobucket
well , i do not exactly remembered what he said. but i noted them down [not all ] and telling you here :D
so here goes.
Teacher: [wished him and started to ask him questions] Tuk, can u actually tell us how you gone through your life under the japanese?
Tuk Itam:  Tough, very tough..... Everyday have to sing "Kimi-Gayo" a national entem for the japanese [ he actually sang and demonstrated :D] The Japanese usually will slap and step the chinese. [ u  knw why, if u don't , go see f3 sej txt book] Japanese's good is they are not selfish in giving knowledge.
Teacher : [ahh, we see..] so can u explain to us how's the situation during the darurat period?
Tuk Itam: We were only alllowed to come out for only an hour, which is from 5pm-6pm. that was difficult.
Teacher : Dear Tuk, can you compare the education now and the past?
Tuk Itam : wow, it is a big difference. My time only got three teacher taught me.We must tell a pantun to teacher just before we go back. Teacher inspired me,  teacher gave us knowledge, teacher made me a better person and teacher is the person who educate me.therefore, you all have to be grateful, appreciate your teachers and peoples around. we go to school wearing shorts only, u knw. And there's no school on saturday, and during fasting season. [everyone was like "woahhhhhhhhhh....*cool* " ]

Teacher : Tuk, what subject did u learn in your school and what's your hobby?
Tuk Itam : ahh, i learnt to " baca buku " , "buat kira-kira" , "buat congak " , then rest awhile , later on  " sejarah" ," agama", and 15 minutes before going back home, we learn "anyaman". and my hobby is to read newspaper. i used to buy newspaper on sunday and read, it's very pleasant. :). it costed me 3 cents. Everyday, 1 cent is enough for a day. 2 boxes of matches are only 1 cent. a pair of shoes is 35 cents. while a bowl of mee with an egg is 5cents. [everyone was woooooooooow, again! haha! ]
Teacher : Okay, Tuk. What's the difference between the merdeka celebration  today and the first year of merdeka?
Tuk Itam : In the past, it was really crowded and nice but not as modern [canggih] as today.

[he showed the money and other collection of his that is still as good as new] he also show..
PhotobucketTHIS! yes this is a plant which was used to make petrol for aeroplanes
then the interview/talk ended and we cheered for his experience and he's cool :) like what pn zuridah said, " semoga beliau panjang umur" long live, pakk!
not much pictures taken today. cause it was quite boring, but not as boring as last years, at the very least, this year had some fresh activity.

Photobucketmy favourite picture of the day =) thanks to the photographer!
and last but not least, here's a cute boy i found! a son of pn menirah's. handsome and cute. he's my favourite! *nyeks*

Photobucket
sat at a side taking pictures using her mother's handphone =) aww, cute kannnn?

PS: the ending was not cool, no singing any patriotic song except "Negaraku". oh, this is sooooo not nice. and btw, what's the point we bringing flags? hmm. good day !
