As an (still newbie) university student, I took part in numerous of (big and small) events held other than being full time nerd student (with a life, no worries. lol)
Most of the time, I volunteered myself to be the helper or the photographer of the events via the clubs and societies that I join.
The first and biggest (so far) event I've involved in was the IMU Cup closing ceremony.
Here are 'some' of the photos. Enjoy... scrolling. Haha :P

Christmas Lunch
29th November 2013
This is another successful and meaningful event held in uni. Children from Taman Megah Handicapped & Disabled Children home and Community Centre for The Deaf are invited to join for lunch in IMU.
The lunch began at 1pm and followed by many performances.
It was a joyful, blessed moment, looking at all the children enjoying themselves throughout the event. :))
Up till here, thanks Ji for the camera and photos editting. :)
Tiratana IMU Cares project
30th Nov 2013 (morning)
I was there for the hair lice treatment and interaction with the kids.
Overall, it was a good experience to me, as I get to know more about the treatment and better ways of communication which are all very helpful to my future profession.

My Father's Old Folks Home
30th Nov 2013 (evening)
(Photos taken using a lecturer's camera, edited by me.)
Was one of the volunteer-photographers for this event. Having the task of photographing the elderly people was challenging to me because we do not randomly take their photos (candid shots) like how we used to take in events that I've joined, as mentioned above. In this case, we must ask for consent and communicate with them, otherwise, it would be difficult. Communication was never a problem for me, at least that's what I thought but in this event, it had proved me wrong.
I found it hard to speak to them especially when they didn't get what I was trying to explain, or worse still, they ignored what I've said and pretended to hear nothing. I didn't really mind about their negative responses, instead I felt clueless and my mind went blank as I have no idea on how to continue the conversation and to ease the awkward situation. I guess, we need to be very understanding and patient in terms of speaking and listening. It's the best if we have the abilities to speak another language/more than a language so that they could at least figure out what we are trying to convey. Most of the old folks there are friendly and nice. They were actually glad to see us there, to have a dinner 'party' with them. :) During the 'party', they were overwhelmed by the students' performances. Basically, they were clapping and swaying all the way as the classical songs played.
I would say, this is another great event which exposed me (my first time) to the community and allow me to learn a lot especially in terms of verbal and non-verbal communication.
Thank you for all these events and opportunities. I would love to join more and never want to stop doing this.
:)
